Unraveled, Rewritten & Reborn Book Release Month

BOOK RELEASE MONTH

November is here, folks! And let me tell you, it's officially CRUNCH TIME!

With the release of my second poetry book, Unraveled, Rewritten & Reborn, and a special creative project right around the corner, my nerves are starting to kick into third gear!

Now, for those who know me, I'm typically someone who needs a little push to step outside my comfort zone. I enjoy my routines, knowing what to expect, and staying within my little bubble. But here's the funny thing about me: as much as I love having a routine, I eventually get bored doing the same old thing.

Make that make sense! LOL!

So, the fact that I decided to not only publish another poetry book but also introduce an entirely different side of my creativity to the world is a HUGE step for me.

And baby, the nerves are NERVING!

You start questioning everything. Will people like it? Will they understand the message I'm trying to convey? Will they appreciate the time, energy, and passion I poured into creating it?

Sometimes those thoughts can become overwhelming, especially when you're putting something personal out there for everyone to experience.

But here's what surprised me the most.

The JOY I experienced while creating it!

What started as a little creative experiment turned into something I genuinely enjoyed putting together. I found myself getting excited about the possibilities, exploring new ideas, and discovering another way to express something I've always been passionate about.

And that got me thinking...

How many things are we missing out on simply because we're afraid to step outside our comfort zones?

Maybe it's trying a new hobby, traveling somewhere unfamiliar, meeting new people, pursuing a dream, or finally doing that one thing you've been talking yourself out of for years.

We get so comfortable with what's familiar that sometimes we don't realize how much joy could be waiting for us on the other side of a little discomfort.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying we need to turn our lives upside down or become fearless overnight. Trust me, I'm still working on that part myself!

But what if we challenged ourselves to get a little uncomfortable every now and then?

What if we stopped worrying so much about whether everyone else would approve and focused more on how much happiness the experience could bring us?

Because one thing this journey has taught me is that not everything we create, pursue, or experience has to be validated by somebody else to be meaningful to us.

Of course, I hope everyone enjoys what I've been working on. But regardless of the response, I'm proud that I took a chance on myself and discovered something new along the way.

And who knows? This might just be the beginning of another exciting chapter in my creative journey.

So, as we head into November, I'm challenging you to think about something you've always wanted to try but haven't quite worked up the courage to do.

What's one thing you would do if you allowed yourself to get a little uncomfortable?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. I'd love to hear them!

As for me, I'm stepping outside my comfort zone, nerves and all, with my pen in one hand and a whole new creative experience in the other.

πŸ’œ But wait… there's more! πŸ‘€

Look What My Pen Has Done!

When 2026 began, I created a vision board to keep myself motivated throughout the year. One of the challenges I set for myself was to publish another poetry book. What I didn't realize was just how therapeutic putting this second collection together would become.

Day by day, as I experienced life's ups and downs, I found myself expressing those moments through my poetry. After years of struggling with writer's block, I was amazed at how much I had to say and how naturally those thoughts began finding their way onto paper.

When I published my first poetry book, *Feelin' Some Type of Way*, I introduced readers to the woman I used to be. I was dipping my bare feet back into the ocean of writing publicly, but this time through poetry.

I never imagined I would become so open and vulnerable about the experiences that shaped my life. Internally, I had always been Da Passionate Poet that Spits Fiya, but I wasn't sure how the world would react to the side of me I had kept hidden for so long.

After years of being criticized and judged by others, I decided it was time to step proudly into my truth.

As I sat down and reviewed all the poems I'd written over the past year, something unexpected happened. I realized that, without even planning it, my poetry had created a roadmap of my emotional journey.

Organizing each poem took me back to the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that inspired it. Some reminded me of difficult moments, while others revealed just how much I'd grown.

This time around, I wanted to sink even deeper into my creative bubble and show the world just how much more "fiya" my pen could spit!

And I decided not to stop at the written word.

My upcoming second poetry collection, *Unraveled, Rewritten & Reborn*, will introduce an additional creative element that gives some of my poems a whole new personality.

But I'm not giving away all my surprises just yet!

Stay tuned, because **11.17.26 is about to unravel!**

Summer Was Summer-ing, But the Pen Kept Moving

Hello September!!

Whew! Between the summer heat, humidity, and all that rain, somehow I still found plenty of time to write.

A big part of my summer was spent editing and putting together my second poetry book. And because apparently I don’t know how to leave well enough alone, I even added a few more poems as an extra treat. LOL! I’m excited about how everything is coming together and even more excited for you all to eventually experience what I’ve been working so hard on.

Of course, I couldn’t spend the entire summer behind my computer. I attended a few open mics, stepped onto a few poetry slam stages, and even encouraged a friend to join in on the fun. There’s just something about being around other poets and creatives that gets those poetic juices flowing.

Speaking of creative energy, I also managed to host a small Brunch, Beats & Blank Pages poetry brainstorming session with a few of my poetry friends. We gathered around some yummy treats, talked poetry, bounced ideas off one another, and gave our creativity a much-needed boost. Because apparently brainstorming works even better when good food is involved!

And somewhere between the writing, open mics, and poetry slams, I did manage to put the pen down long enough to enjoy summer. I escaped to the beach with friends for a day and even made my way to Nashville, Tennessee, for a little fun, friendship, and some good R&B music. Sometimes the poet needs to get out and live a little so she has something new to write about!

Now that summer is officially winding down, it’s time for me to get back to business and start putting the finishing touches on my upcoming book. I swear this year has sped right past me, and somehow I still have so much I want to accomplish before transitioning into the next chapter of my writing journey.

One thing is for sure: Da Passionate Poet is still Spittin’ Fiya! πŸ”₯

And if I have anything to do with it, I’ll be leaving a trail of poetic ashes behind me wherever this journey takes me next.

Also, take a moment to check out my other new content on my page for September:

A Poetic Connection: One rough night on the mic reminded me that every performance won’t be perfect. Sometimes the moments that humble us give us the best material to write about.

A Poet's Wrap Up: Black Reading Month: Whether you’re turning pages or pressing play on an audiobook, there’s always room for a good story. This month, let’s celebrate Black authors and the books that have stayed with us.

Pages That Raised Me: We’re going back to 1997 with Questions of Life, written by high-school senior me. I don’t remember who made me mad, but apparently teenage me had A LOT of questions!

Life B Life-N: When did going out require this much planning? These days, I need details, parking information, comfortable shoes—and possibly a nap before I commit! πŸ˜‚

Until next time…Stay Poetic! ✍🏾πŸ”₯πŸ’œ
