✨ Midweek Mix and Mingle: Stepping Into My Next Project ✨

 🔑 A Busy, Productive Week

This week has been quite the journey. Busy? Absolutely. Productive? Without a doubt.

I kicked things off by diving into my next project. My mind has been running overtime, trying to shape ideas into stories and breathe life into new characters. I managed to type out a few sentences—just enough to ease myself back into the rhythm of writing short stories.

“The process felt a little rusty, like spraying WD-40 on a squeaky door. But I know the more I ‘oil’ my craft, the smoother the flow will become.”

📚 Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone

Keeping my promise to step outside my comfort zone, I attended my very first Author’s Q&A at a bookstore.

It all started with what I thought was a TikTok forward from my cousin—an interview with Gayle King featuring New York Times bestseller Kennedy Ryan. Instantly intrigued, I asked myself: Who is this curvaceous, vibrant woman holding everyone’s attention?

The more she spoke about her book Can’t Get Enough, the more she had me at the edge of my seat. Out of curiosity (and let’s be honest, a little nosiness), I went to her socials. That’s when I discovered she’d be in my city soon. Without hesitation, I purchased a ticket.

Later, when I thanked my cousin for sending the interview, she swore she never had. All I could think was:

“Lord, you got my attention.”

🎤 A Front-Row Experience

The line outside the event felt like waiting for a rollercoaster on a hot summer day—long, buzzing, full of anticipation. Inside, the energy was electric.

When Kennedy Ryan and fellow author Regina Black stepped onto the stage, applause filled the room.

Watching them interact was like watching a blockbuster. They fanned out over each other’s work while sharing their unique writing journeys. Regina spoke passionately about her new book, August Lane, and I was mesmerized.

“These women didn’t just talk about writing—they breathed it. And that passion was contagious.”

✍🏽 Lessons and Inspiration

By the time I asked about their writing processes, I was mentally taking notes, soaking up every gem they dropped.

Waiting in line for autographs, I struck up a lighthearted conversation with another reader. When it was my turn, Kennedy and Regina greeted me with warmth, smiles, and hugs. They were present with each fan, never rushing.

Before leaving, I gifted them both a copy of my poetry book, Feelin’ Some Type of Way, hoping my words might bring them joy in between their busy schedules.

🌟 Finding My Spark Again

Driving home, I couldn’t wait to call a friend and share everything I had just experienced. That spark I thought I lost when it came to writing? It wasn’t gone.

It had only been simmering—waiting for the right moment to reignite.

This week reminded me that passion doesn’t disappear. It evolves, matures, and waits for us to claim it again.

💜 Closing Words

I’m stepping into this next chapter with fresh eyes, new inspiration, and a heart ready to create something sensational.

Until next time:

✨ Stay Passionate. ✨ Stay 100% real to yourself.

I Got This!!

TGIF, people.

Week two since releasing my book as a self-published author, and whew — when they say you’ve gotta be a jack of all trades, they mean it. I’m my own promoter, scheduler, content creator, and still grinding on new projects… all while juggling my regular 9-to-5 that keeps the lights on (for now).

People keep asking, “How are your sales?” And truthfully, that is one of the first things I check each morning. But honestly, there’s so much more to this journey than just the numbers. I’m pushing hard to keep the momentum going — staying creative, building my name, and putting myself out there in ways that are both exciting and terrifying.

I’ve been signing up for opportunities that scare me — but I believe the Lord planted these seeds long ago, and now it’s my job to water them and help them grow. So I’m stepping out on faith, signing up first... and freaking out later.

Being a new indie author can get lonely. You’re brand new to the industry, and every day feels like an uphill climb to get your book, your name, and your voice in front of people. And even then, attention doesn’t always equal sales. But I’ve realized my college years might’ve lowkey prepped me for this — I earned both my AA and BA in Business and Marketing. Still, it hits different when the brand you’re promoting is yourself.

I’m used to being behind the scenes — but now, I’m behind it, in front of it, and walking alongside it. And surprisingly, I feel this fire in me… this drive I haven’t felt since my twenties. I’m constantly thinking, brainstorming, praying, and asking for guidance.

The temptation to procrastinate is real. But I’m learning to fight through it. I’ve got my eyes on the prize.

I got this.

💕👏A Message From My Heart

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has purchased, promoted, or spread the word about my poetry book—your support means the world to me. I know these photos may seem like I’m showing the same book over and over, but trust me, it’s so much more than that.
They represent years of blood, sweat, and tears finally paying off. For so long, I procrastinated on publishing this book, but I eventually backed up my words with action—and I couldn’t be any prouder.
This is just the beginning. I’m already working on my next project. The hustle doesn’t stop after one week! Once I receive my author copies, I’ll be selling them directly—from my purse to your hands.
There’s still time to grab your copy on Amazon, either in paperback or Kindle edition.
And stay tuned... a book release party may be on the horizon, where you'll have the opportunity to get your copy signed by yours truly.
If you’ve had a chance to dive into Feelin' Some Type of Way, I wanna know:
What’s your favorite poem from the book—and why did it hit youWas it the rawness? The rhythm? The “whew, I felt that!” moment?
Drop the title and tell me what moved you in the comments 👇🏾
