April is bringing in that fresh Spring energy…
even though the weather keeps trying to pull us back into winter.
But just like the seasons shift, so do we.
To kick off National Poetry Month, I’ve been stepping outside my comfort zone and into spaces where words are free to breathe. I had the opportunity to attend a local poetry reading, surrounded by other creatives pouring pieces of themselves onto the page—and the stage.
When they opened the floor for anyone willing to share, I took a deep breath and stepped up. I shared my poem, Life’s Weather Report—a piece that speaks to the very changes we all go through. In that moment, it felt like more than just reading… it felt like release.
The following week, I found myself in a different setting—a small, intimate poetry workshop at the library. No pressure, no spotlight… just a room full of writers willing to share their thoughts, their stories, and their truth. I’ve come to realize that I love these types of spaces the most—where it’s not about perfection, but connection.
And I’m not done yet.
For the remainder of the month, I’ve signed up for a poetry walk in the park—where fresh air, nature, and stillness come together to inspire something new. There’s something about being outside, surrounded by life, that makes the words flow a little differently… a little deeper.
This month isn’t just about poetry—
it’s about expression, growth, and allowing myself to be seen.
And I’m embracing every moment of it ✍πΎπ«
